Maurits van der Drift: about the session
In this session Maurits will introduce the concept of building your data lake in a cloud-native manner. We will learn from his experiences with designing and implementing a data lake in such a way that costs are lowered, performance increased and benefits maximized. This promises to be a very interesting session!
Maurits van der Drift
Maurits van der Drift is a Mission Critical Engineer at SchubergPhilis and has a passion for data processing technologies of the large cloud providers. He designed and implemented cloud-native data lakes for larger organizations.
Maurits his interest current lies at the data processing technologies of the large cloud providers. He has an agnostic stance towards AWS, GCP and the IBM Cloud Platform. And he is a certified AWS solution architect.
His previous experience reaches out to (on premise) data processing solutions (EDW, Hadoop). He started in infrastructure management and automation and continued in developing big data applications.
René Bremer: about the session
A lot of companies consider setting up an Enterprise Data Lake to create business value with data. To prevent that a Data Lake becomes a Data Swamp with untrusted data, data pub-sub and metadata is key. In this talk, two customer cases are discussed:
- In the first customer case we focus on a few data pub-sub flows and principles which can be considered during a data lake implementation.
- In the second customer case, the focus is on metadata using the Common Data Model (CDM). CDM is part of the Open Data Initiative by Adobe, Microsoft and SAP to eliminate data silos between application and business departments.
René Bremer
René Bremer works for Microsoft as Solution Architect. He facilitate Microsoft’s key accounts to improve their business by implementing data & AI solutions. His background is in econometrics and computer science.
René is interested in Azure, sports (keen marathon runner) and last but not least family life (father of three sons).
